Philadelphia's BigKid Dance presents the world premiere performance of their newest contemporary dance-theater work, If I Die Before the Revolution, this fall at Maryland Hall.
If I Die Before the Revolution acts as a fantasized eulogy and valediction for a group of queer people trying to survive a crumbling world chasing them to their doom.
This dance work portrays a paracosm of a queer experience in today’s society, reflecting fear, love, identity crisis, loneliness, death, a yearning for unrealized dreams and a hope to leave behind an impactful legacy. Led by luminary artistic director Mark Caserta, Big Kid Dance is a queer movement community based in Philadelphia. They create collaborative, thought-provoking contemporary dance works reflecting on love, grief, curiosity, fear and identity in today’s society primarily through a queer lens.
