The Body is A Portal, A Somatic Movement Workshop
with Kathi Hendrick

Saturday Sept 20 9:30a-12:00p
Price $80

Location: Garth Newel Music Center

Join Kathi Hendrick for an intimate, immersive workshop held inside the beautiful Garth Newel Music Center, inviting you to slow down, listen deeply, and return to the innate intelligence of the body. Through guided somatic awareness and intuitive, body-led movement, we’ll attune to the subtle language of sensation, impulse, and rhythm.
This is not about performing or getting it “right”—it’s about coming into an honest relationship with your own body. From this grounded presence, movement becomes a living expression of the present moment—an authentic dance that arises from within.

Drawing from the themes of PORTALS—the Friday evening performance exploring descent, transformation, and re-emergence—we’ll invite participants to step inside the experience themselves. Through movement, we’ll trace personal and collective thresholds, allowing what’s been hidden, held, or waiting to emerge to find shape through the body.

Whether you are an artist, a former dancer, or simply curious, this space welcomes you into a creative process where the body leads and the mind softens. Together, we’ll explore solo and group practices that support embodied expression, emotional alchemy, and the emergence of spontaneous choreography.
Come as you are. No dance experience is needed—only a willingness to move and be moved.

About Kathi

Kathi Hendrick

Kathi Hendrick is a multidisciplinary artist, experience designer, and embodiment guide whose work is rooted in myth, memory, and somatic exploration. She weaves together sacred traditions, regenerative frameworks, and trauma-informed embodiment practices to support personal and collective transformation.
As an embodiment guide, Kathi supports individuals in reconnecting with the wisdom of their bodies, integrating emotion, sensation, and creative expression as pathways to healing. As an experience designer, she partners with organizations and communities to bring visionary ideas to life through immersive, intentional environments.
Her artistic work explores the mythic body through poetry and dance, most recently in her book PORTALS and its companion dance film. Originally trained in classical ballet and visual arts, Kathi returned to movement after a career in science and engineering to reinhabit deeper layers of self and life. She now supports an international community through somatic healing and creative practice.
