Middlebury College and Town Hall Theater Present:
Urinetown
January 23-28
In the not-too-distant future, a decades-long drought has left citizens facing a government-enforced ban on private toilets. When nature calls, people must pay to use public amenities, all controlled by a single evil corporation: Urine Good Company. But when a hero emerges to start a revolution, we see what happens when the power of the people rises up against injustice!
URINETOWN is a hilarious satire of corporate greed, social irresponsibility, and musical theatre itself. It's also a love story! Blending sharp humor, social commentary, and absurdism, this show has delighted audiences across the globe for decades.
This production is the culminating work of Middlebury College's J-Term course "Making a Musical: Process and Performance." Over 40 students collaborate across cast, orchestra, design, and stage crew, working alongside professional theatre-makers and college faculty to bring this show to life.
