Spotlight Series: Clowns Reading Shakespeare

Tuesday, July 28 - 7 pm

Created by Kenzia Dalie and Panoply Theatre Collective

Running Time:
1 hour, no intermission

Clowns Reading Shakespeare is a family-friendly theatrical performance featuring a troupe of red-nosed clowns auditioning for a diva Director and her yet-to-be-determined Shakespeare show!

Laugh along with this troupe of eager clowns as they explore three of William Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies, Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, and Macbeth…to the best of their ability. The Clowns make each play their own and interact with the audience as they follow the unusual whims of the Director. Improv and mischief ensues, as the show must go on!

Whether familiar with Shakespeare or not, families and viewers of all ages are sure to laugh, cry, and cheer along as the Clowns ultimately prove that a focus on teamwork and staying true to yourself leads to wonderful art.

We want to acknowledge the original caretakers of this land, the peoples of the Anishnabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Oneida and many other First Nations People who crossed these lands for sustenance, trade, and survival. This acknowledgement recognizes their long history, predating the establishment of European Colonies. We acknowledge this territory's significance for the Indigenous Peoples who lived and continue to live upon it, a people whose practices and spiritualities were tied to the land and continue to develop in relationship to the territory and its other inhabitants today. We offer our gratitude for their contributions to this community, having respect for all as we share this space now and walk side by side into the future.
