ARGO

Truth is stranger than fiction

Advanced general seating tickets available for the Saturday, Feb 23 7:30pm screening only.

Argo, the Ben Affleck thriller about the rescue of six Americans from Iran in 1980, is coming to the Lincoln Theatre which is terrific news for all of us that have been waiting to see it. But even more exciting than the thrilling film is that Mark Lijek and Cora Amburn-Lijek, who actually lived these events, will be at the Lincoln to share some of their experiences with our audience. Mark and Cora reside in Anacortes, which makes them Lincoln neighbors. They lived through the happenings as the US Embassy in Tehran was overtaken on November 4, 1979. After some intermediary steps, they took refuge with the Canadian diplomats in Tehran, and worked with Tony Mendez on the elaborate and unlikely plan to get out of Iran and eventually back to the states. Mark has written a book about his experiences (written pre-Argo) and has an article on Slate.com that recaps his experiences. Mark and Cora will be present at the Saturday, February 23rd 7:30 showing at the Lincoln theyll say a few words at the beginning and then at the end of the film (about 9:30) theyll share some of their insights and talk a bit about how life and art intersect in some ways and not in some others. Please join us for this film and talk bringing art into real life!
