Faculty Recital: Love, Loss, & Dreams: A Woman's Life in Song
Saturday. October 24, 2026
Chamber Hall
7:30 p.m.
"Love, Loss & Dreams: A Woman's Life in Song" centers on Robert Schumann's Frauenliebe und Leben (A Woman's Life and Love), the beloved song cycle that follows a woman's journey through love, marriage, motherhood, and loss. The program also celebrates the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla's birth with his Siete canciones populares españolas (Seven Spanish Folk Songs), vivid snapshots of love, jealousy, and longing, including a tender lullaby. Completing the recital is a U.S. premiere: rarely heard songs in French by Mexican composer Gustavo Campa, newly edited and brought back to life, adding dreams and passion to this portrait of a woman's inner world. Performed by Binghamton faculty artists Brenda Iglesias, contralto, Curt Pajer, piano, and Joey Grunkemeyer, cello, who joins them for one of the Campa songs.
