Blues & Taboos shines a light on the blues and jazz that filled America's speakeasies, dance halls, and late-night clubs during Prohibition. These are the songs people danced to while liquor was illegal and jazz was still finding its voice: clever, playful, sometimes provocative and risqué, and always entertaining.
From the smoky clubs of the 1920s to the early days of swing, the program revisits a side of the Great American Songbook that's rarely heard today and offers a fresh look at the music that helped shape American jazz.

The Lineage Trio is L.A.-based and performs frequently with Jeff Goldblum’s Mildred Snitzer Orchestra Orchestra (where Alex is Music Director) and Seth MacFarlane and has recorded and/or performed with Laufey, Michael Bublé, and countless other well-known musicians.
Olivia Chindamo is a Juilliard graduate and the school's first jazz voice master's student who has performed at Birdland, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and leading festivals around the world
Alphonso Horne is a 2x Grammy-nominated trumpeter who has performed with Jazz at Lincoln Center and appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He served as lead trumpeter for Broadway's A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical, performing in the orchestra while providing Louis Armstrong's signature on-stage cornet sound throughout the production
Robbie Lee is a graduate of both The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music whose performances have taken him to Birdland, Dizzy's Club, Joe's Pub, and jazz festivals including Monterey, Montreux, and Umbria
Tawanda Suessbrich- Joaquim is the winner of the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, has toured internationally with Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox and has been recognized with the 2023 BISTRO Outstanding Achievement Award for Jazz Vocalist
