The Linfield Collaborative Music Ensemble (LCME) makes its Portland debut with the release of its first album, Patterns of Wildness — seven world premiere recordings by four composers who have all taught or studied at Linfield University. Patterns lock into place everywhere on the record, drawn from living or weather-made phenomena that push back against formal organization, reflecting the incredible juxtaposition of wildness and cultivation in the verdant Willamette Valley where Linfield University fosters its artists. The concert includes works from the album by William Campbell, Andrea Reinkemeyer, Zach Gulaboff Davis, and Élana Gatien, featuring the World Premiere of Reinkemeyer’s lush piece of compression and expansion, Rainshadow, alongside an opening work by Greg Steinke, former Linfield composition faculty. A national finalist for The American Prize in Chamber Music Performance, LCME showcases Linfield’s unique contributions to Oregon’s musical landscape with faculty, students, and alumni playing side by side in a Pierrot-plus-percussion instrumentation.
