Moonlight and Magnolias

by Ron Hutchison
Directed by Brad Sales

The screenplay for Gone With the Wind isn’t working. This play revolves around legendary producer David O. Selznick’s efforts to pull Margaret Mitchell’s masterpiece out of the doldrums by enlisting famed Director Victor Fleming and hiring screen writer Ben Hecht to spiff up the script. Problem: Hect has never read the book, so the three men lock themselves in MGM’s office while Fleming and Selznick act out scenes for the writer. Side splitting comedy ensues....like grown men enacting, “I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout birthin’ no babies”.......It’s The Gone With the Wind that’s known and loved today, but as it’s never been seen before!
