TANASI
A Worldgrass Trio

-Bar opens at 4:30pm
-doors at 5pm
-music at 5:30pm
- 90-minute set, no intermission

Three roots musicians who've played Carnegie Hall and the Ryman bring their globe-spanning bluegrass sound to the Anderson Studio

TANASI plays what they call “worldgrass”: Appalachian string band music opened up to melodies and rhythms from across the world. Billy Cardine's dobro and slide guitar anchor the sound, and Anya Hinkle and Mary Lucey's close harmonies carry it. It's bluegrass that doesn't stay in one place.

All three are internationally respected roots musicians in their own right. Together they've played Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Ryman Auditorium, and performed at festivals including Bonnaroo, MerleFest, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, the Earl Scruggs Music Festival, RockyGrass, and major roots festivals across Scandinavia and Europe. Their individual work has drawn praise from No Depression, PopMatters, Americana UK, and NPR-affiliated programs.

In 2025, TANASI received a National Endowment for the Arts USArtists International Grant, recognizing their commitment to meaningful cross-cultural collaboration. This year they're releasing their self-titled debut album, TANASI, and playing major festivals including RockyGrass, Red Wing Roots, and Strawberry Music Festival.
