Town Hall Theater Presents:

Great Art Wednesday -
"James McNeill Whistler"

Wednesday, October 21 in the Anderson Studio at 11am and 2pm.

Running Time: 90 minutes

The first major Whistler retrospective in three decades, captured on screen for everyone who couldn't make it to London.

Earlier this year, Tate Britain mounted the first major retrospective of James McNeill Whistler's work in three decades, pairing world-famous paintings with pieces rarely seen in public. Exhibition on Screen filmed the exhibition, bringing those works and the story behind them to movie screens around the world.

Whistler spent most of his career in London and Paris, but his restless approach to color, composition, and self-promotion left its mark on American art for generations after him. This film is a chance to get to know a painter whose influence outran his fame.

Directed by David Bickerstaff (Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition and Turner & Constable)

Great Art Wednesday is a monthly art exhibition film series running from October 2026 to May 2027.
