Join us for a staged reading of Eve and Adam written by Kirsten McCory and directed by Carissa Meisner Smit. Part of the FIRST DRAFT Staged Reading Series presented by the Edmonds Driftwood Players and Driftwood After Dark.

Synopsis: In this dark comedy set in the 1980’s, our heroine Jacquilene begins a new chapter when she starts working at a Seattle dating service, Adam and Eve. Dating for Jacks has been horror-filled colored by heartache; why does every date end the same way? Treading water in a cycle of sex, love, disinterest, rejection, pursuit and desire, Jacks accidentally meets the glamorous Becky Cardash who is host to her own, troubling challenges. When Becky crosses that final line, Jacks is forced to confront her own past traumas and wrest control of her destiny. Using stage spot-lighting and five actors, Eve and Adam is a surreal exploration into how bewildering and yet redeeming the search for love and self can be.

Expected Run Time: 90 minutes, with no intermission. A Playwright Feedback session will be held after the reading and is encouraged but optional to stay and participate.

Content Info: adult language, discussions of sexual and physical violence, alcohol use, sexuality, murder.
