Actor/comedian/novelist/ playwright Steve Martin adapts an early 20th century German farce – a "send-up of bourgeois snobbery and conformity".

In 1910 Dusseldorf, Louise’s underpants are accidentally exposed at the King’s parade, much to the horror of her stuffy bureaucrat husband Theo. The wardrobe malfunction brings Louise several suitors and awakens her buried desires.

The Underpants (original version) was previously produced at Alumnae in 1967; it’s this season’s Countdown to 100 play – as our 100th anniversary approaches in 2018, each season will feature a retrospective from one of our prior decades.
