Family Vets Town Hall

Honoring Service, Hearing Families

Thursday, November 12 from 5:30 to 7pm in the Anderson Studio

Veterans’ families have stories too. Come hear them.

Registration must be done directly through the Vermont Vets Townhall website here.

During Veterans Day week, honor those who have served by listening to the people who stand beside them. Town Hall Theater invites the community to a Family Vets Town Hall, where immediate family members of veterans may share up to ten minutes about their own experiences. They will speak about the pride, challenges, sacrifices, and lasting impact of military service on family life.

Author and journalist Sebastian Junger created the Vets Town Hall model around a simple, powerful idea: greater understanding begins when people share their experiences and their neighbors listen. Congressman and Marine veteran Seth Moulton hosted the first gathering in Massachusetts on Veterans Day in 2015. This family-focused event extends that invitation to those whose lives have also been shaped by a loved one’s service.

Held the day after Veterans Day and emceed by Cathy Turner, this gathering is a chance to carry remembrance into connection. Everyone is encouraged to attend and listen, whether or not they have a military connection. The event is free and non-political, and all perspectives are valued.
