Join us for a staged reading of Absolution written by John A. Adams and directed by David Alan MacBaird. Part of the FIRST DRAFT Staged Reading Series presented by the Edmonds Driftwood Players and Driftwood After Dark.

Synopsis: Tom and Maureen Murphy are excited to reunite over dinner with Bishop Mike Kelly, their high school classmate and the godfather of their son Jack. As they reminisce about their senior year when their St. Mary’s football team won the city football championship, Jack arrives to share in the nostalgic trip down memory lane until he asks Mike to hear his confession right there in the family living room. With his parents retreating to the kitchen, Jack’s confession unfolds. Reaching its climactic point, Jack calls his parents back to the living room to witness him pointing a gun at Mike and threatening to splatter his brains across the living room, as the memory of a long-buried trauma is resurrected.

Expected Run Time: 90 minutes, with no intermission. A Playwright Feedback session will be held after the reading and is encouraged but optional to stay and participate.

Content Info: Adult language, discussions of rape, sexual, and physical violence.
