Oz

Jul 11 - Jul 27
by Patrick Shanahan
directed by Christopher Willard
featuring Christopher Willard, Tricia Moreland and Susan Harrison

The not-so-true story of how L. Frank Baum came to write “The Wizard of Oz.” At forty-four years old, Baum is a “jack of all trades” and a master of none – his latest work has no title and no ending! Like the cyclone in his story, Baum’s housekeeper and a little runaway named Dot get swept up into the mad vortex of his tale, as Baum enlists them to help him improvise his story. Suddenly, an overstuffed Victorian study becomes a magical land; a black, horsehair footstool becomes Toto; a ceiling fad with scarves becomes a cyclone; stuffing from the sofa, a potbelly stove, and a bearskin rug become the Scarecrow, the Tinman, and the Cowardly Lion.
