Take George, a professor at a small college, his barracuda faculty wife Martha, and add a young couple that includes an opportunistic new professor and his shatteringly naïve new bride, stirred together for a late-night drink and you've got the recipe for a major marital battle. The drinks flow and inhibitions melt. George and Martha's inhuman bitterness toward one another is provoked by the enormous personal sadness that they have pledged to keep to themselves: a secret that has seemingly been the foundation for their relationship. There are fresh wounds atop old bruises, and grim surprises for everyone to witness.
This play contains strong language and adult themes.
