The Circus won Charles Chaplin his first Academy Award in 1929 for 'Versatility and genius in writing, acting, directing and producing'. Engaged as a clown by a travelling circus, Charlie falls in love with the ill-treated daughter of The Circus proprietor, but meets a rival in the handsome new tight-rope walker. Memorable moments abound heightened by Chaplin's own musical score that will be performed live by the WSO. As an added bonus, we'll hear Kid Auto Races at Venice - Chaplin's first appearance as the "Little Tramp" marking its 100th anniversary with an all-new musical score.
