Blanche du Bois’ life is ruled by her romantic illusions. When she is unable to distort the realities of life, she simply ignores them. The pressure inflicted upon her by her sister Stella, with whom she is living in New Orleans, intensified by the presence of Stanley, Stella’s earthy young husband, leads to a revelation of her tragic self-delusions and an unraveling of her mental state.
