THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE
Small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, comes to New York City to marry for money, not necessarily for love – a rather “modern” goal in 1922. Millie soon finds that she enjoys the flapper lifestyle, but problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China. The style of this musical is comic pastiche. This zany, high-spirited musical romp is a mix of new tunes and well-known classics. It took Broadway by storm, winning the Tony for Best Musical. We anticipate having to remove a few seats for the anticipated outbreak of spontaneous Charleston dancing in the aisles.
