Lilting (feature)
Dir: Hong Khaou / 2014 / UK / 91 min / DCP

Cambodian-born British Hong Khaou’s writing and directorial debut boasts a stellar cast including recently out actor Ben Whislaw (Cloud Atlas) and legendary Chinese actress Cheng Pei-pei (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon). The film chronicles Whislaw attempting to build a connection with Pei-pei, the mother of his recently deceased partner, despite their lacking a common language. Exquisitely crafted scenes led this drama to win the World Cinema Dramatic Cinematography Award at the Sundance film festival earlier this year.
