This compelling one-hour documentary captures powerful moments in Hawaiian history - past and present. It chronicles the internecine warring between big island districts of Ka`u and Kohala and the fulfilling of a prophecy that led Kamehameha the first to build a heiau, a temple of state to unify the Hawaiian islands. It's also about the death of Kamehameha's cousin the Ka`u chief Keouakuahu`ula, as it was this chief's life that was consecrated and offered at Pu`ukohola heiau two centuries ago. It was through commemorative events at this site in 1991 that invitations were extended to ka po`e Hawai`i - Hawaiians throughout the state, to come together as one at this sacred place - to reaffirm and reclaim ancestral ties, protocols and cultural practices that hadn't been used by many in 200 years. Polynesians also came from throughout the Pacific in a show of support.
