150Central is a Contemporary Christian band that began its roots in ministry at the Catholic Community of St. Matthias, Somerset, NJ.
Originally known as the “150 Praise Band” the name found its origin in Psalm 150, praising God with a variety of musical instruments – trumpet, harp, lyre, tambourine, drums, strings, flute and cymbals. The Psalm concludes with the verse, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord,” a phrase that has become somewhat of a mantra of the band.
Since its beginnings during the summer of 2009, the band has grown in a number of different directions. Arriving at the place we find ourselves now, 150 Central has been given an opportunity, a platform of sorts. “We’ve been given this platform and we feel like God wants us to use it to share a message of hope, about hanging in there and not giving up, a message that we are deeply loved."
150Central embraces God's calling with taking yet another step forward, shaking up its direction, moving outside the walls of its parish community. It is our hope to reach those who have yet to understand or embrace the gospel message of love. To those that are broken, God can heal us. To those with addictions, God can restore us. To those filled with guilt and shame, God loves us so we can love ourselves.
All proceeds for the special event will go toward the Villagers for their General Operating Fund.
