PORTLAND, OR 97205
World Premiere - Ihsan Rustem
Casual Act - Sarah Slipper
Blue - Lucas Crandall

Two of Northwest Dance Project's most popular original works get topped with the third world premiere from our “soul mate, London choreographer Ihsan Rustem" The Oregonian - winner of the 2010 Sadler's Wells Global Dance Contest with Northwest Dance Project's "State of Matter"

Artistic Director Sarah Slipper's most complex and theatrical work, "Casual Act," is based on the Harold Pinter play "Betrayal" and explores the workings and wreckage of interconnected affairs, and features a huge, revolving set and a rollercoaster ride of a finish. “…one almost forgot the dancers weren’t expressing themselves with language, as their movements so clearly and beautifully relay the drama.” – Portland Monthly Magazine about "Casual Act"

Inspired by works of master sculptor Rodin, particularly his powerful and sensuous depictions of the exposed back, Lucas Crandall’s signature work for Northwest Dance Project, "Blue," is a captivating stream of color and flowing movement that creates it's own mysterious world of beautiful human kinetics. "a gracefully athletic ballet." – The Oregonian about "Blue"
