Voices of the Children - Syria Project

Friday, April 17, 7:00pm
Saturday, Apr 18, 7:00pm

Following an exceptionally successful inaugural project, Voices of the Children is back with a brand new play written by a new group of 6th grade playwrights from Mount Baker Middle School in Mount Vernon, WA.

This year's play is inspired by iPhone photos taken by Syrian refugee teens inside Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan. It tells the story of a female adolescent and the many difficulties she faces within the confines of a refugee camp. From struggling with her role as a female in a male dominated culture to the lack of basic services and the need to continue her education, Voices of the Children – Syria Project is the authors' attempt to share the story of the kids thrust in to this hopeless state of affairs.

Sponsored by Theater Arts Guild, City of Mount Vernon, and Mount Vernon Schools.
