Symphonic Legends
SYMPHONY CONCERT
Saturday, April 30, 2016 - 7:30PM
Sunday, May 1, 2016 - 2:30PM
Auburn Performing Arts Center, Auburn, WA

French composer Édouard Lalo offers two exceptional pieces on this program: the overture from his opera Le Roi d’Ys, based on the old Breton legend of the drowned city of Ys, followed by his dramatic cello concerto, featuring principal cellist Brian Wharton. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2 “The Little Russian,” one of his most carefree and celebratory works, was inspired by Russian folk songs. Guest conductor Aram Demirjian is Associate Conductor of the Kansas City Symphony.
