PICNIC
It’s a lazy Labor Day weekend in small-town Kansas. Flo is a widow with two daughters, Madge and Millie, who are growing up fast. Next door, Helen, also a widow, lives with her invalid mother. Madge, the prettiest girl in town, seems destined to secure her future by marrying Alan, the local factory owner’s son. However, the serenity is broken when Hal, a good-looking drifter and an old friend of Alan, bursts onto the scene, igniting many a heart and mind, especially those of Madge, who begins to wonder if the excitement of Hal and new places, might be preferable to the security of Alan and her dreary home town.
