Enchanted April
Written by Matthew Barber
Directed by Iris Weinhouse
Think “Real Housewives of Britain Spending the Summer in an Italian Villa”. OK, maybe not. But you’d be surprised to see the assortment of oddball characters appearing in this stage adaptation of a novel written more than 90 years ago, including two frumpy wives, a grand dame, one husband who is a cad and another a pompous oaf, a glamorous countess and a manic Italian maid. “Call it a feminist's novel, a chick flick or simply a woman's play, Enchanted April is still a story with sufficient sexual resonance to appeal just as much to men.” NY POST
