Martin McDonagh is a Tony and Academy Award winning playwright and director.   Before moving to such films as "In Bruges" and "Seven Psychopaths", McDonagh wrote two trilogies of plays set in Ireland.   "The Pillowman" and "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" are among his best loved plays.

"The Beauty Queen of Leenane" is set in the mountains of County Galway.   It is the darkly comic tale of Maureen Folan and Mag, her manipulative aging mother, whose interference in Maureen's first and possible final chance at love sets in motion a chain of events leading to a tragic conclusion.
