TheatreNOW is pleased to once again pleased to have Clyde Edgerton grace our stage for two special pre-show meet-n-greet performances to benefit the Arts Council of Wilmington.
Clyde Edgerton is the author of ten novels, a book of advice, a memoir, short stories, and essays. He has been a Guggenheim Fellow and five of his novels have been New York Times Notable Books. He is a member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers and is the Thomas S. Kenan III Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at UNC Wilmington. He lives in Wilmington, NC, with his wife, Kristina, and their children.

When Mattie Rigsbee discovers a stray dog on her porch she decides she’s too old to keep it and calls the dogcatcher. Little does she know that the dogcatcher, Lamar Benfield, will open her eyes to a world she never knew existed; a world that includes car theft, prison breaks and a delinquent named Wesley who is as desperate for family as she is. Armed with only her mouth-watering cornbread and a deep abiding faith, Mattie is determined to woo Wesley to the side of God and good Southern manners… if she can manage to stay out of jail herself.
