The University of North Florida has become one of the top-rated jazz programs anywhere, and our community has produced several promising young jazz artists who have earned a position in this prestigious program. This concert will feature a solo performance by pianist, Matt Falgowski, protégé of the great Dick Hyman and jazz duet performance by guitarist, Nick Russell, and vocalist/violinist, Camille Hudson, which will include fresh renditions of timeless favorites such as Moon River. The Old Souls jazz sextet includes Jazz Juvenocracy alumni, Alex Hernandez on sax, clarinet, and flute, and Bit Risner, on trumpet and vocals, as well as Liston Gregory on piano and vocals, Jose Villalpando on bass, Patrick Daut on guitar, and John Medico on drums. Members of this combo have performed with rave reviews at many of the great venues including Montreux, Jazz a Vienne, Umbria, and North Sea Jazz Festivals. They will be performing an eclectic program ranging from the earliest trad jazz and beyond. The concert will culminate in an exciting all-in finale.
