Quilters

Directed by David Powell

March 9 - April 2, 2017

Sarah, a pioneer woman, and six other women who are called her daughters, face the challenges of frontier life in the American West. The songs in this play with music are composed in the style of richly harmonized American folk music, matched with a series of 16 short tales and tableaux. Each presents an aspect of frontier life or womanhood represented by the patches on a quilt - "girlhood, marriage, childbirth, spinsterhood, twisters, fire, illness and death" – which ultimately come together to form a single dramatic tableau.

The play contains mature subject matter and is most appropriate for audiences aged 16 and above.
