T a r t u f f e

By Molière

Directed by Ryan O’Donnell

“Such men are vengeful, sly, and as cold as ice,

Until, to mankind’s reverent applause,

They crucify their foe in Heaven’s cause.”

Written in 17th century France, Tartuffe is a wild, physical comedy that looks into how easily we fall for leaders who pretend to be looking out for our best interests. When Orgon falls under the influence of Tartuffe - a trickster who pretends to speak with divine authority – Orgon become completely incapable of making any action without consulting him. When Tartuffe attempts to interfere with the marriage of Orgon’s own daughter, it is up to the maids and servants within the household to come up with drastic schemes to expose this fraud, and protect their gullible masters from throwing everything away.
