The Mistress Cycle is a musical tale of sacrifice, destruction, and renewal that follows Tess, a 30-something photographer in Manhattan, as she wrestles with the proposition of a wealthy gentleman to “keep her” as his mistress. As she contemplates the offer she is presented with numerous mirages of mistresses throughout history, from a 14 year old concubine of 12th century China to a bordello Madame from turn-of-the-last-century New Orleans. Can these women provide the insight Tess so desperately needs to decide her fate?
