The Woman Of Salt

When life gives you trauma, you write an opera to heal. That's how it
worked for Anice Thigpen as she wrote The Woman of Salt, a chamber opera
about a woman who chose to "look back" and transform.

Through efforts by Eugene-area music professionals, the fully staged
premiere of The Woman of Salt will take place at 7 PM on June 23rd at
the Wildish Community Theater in Springfield.

The opera includes nine cast members, five instrumentalists and a
chorus. Michael Sakir conducts and Sara E. Widzer stage directs. Soprano
Laura Wayte sings the lead role and is joined on stage by baritone Bill
Hulings performing in the role of Lot. Jonna Hayden designs costumes and
Chris McGinley directs the chorus. Grant Preisser provides scenic design
and videography.
