Talley's Folly by Lanford Wilson
Set in 1944, Talley's Folly is the story of the unlikely love between Matt, a Jewish, immigrant accountant and Sally, the daughter of a Missouri garment factory dynasty. Matt describes their story as an immensely energetic hesitation waltz performed by two people who've had a brief affair, but then backed away, each having their own reasons for hesitating. Matt, deciding to break their separation first, has come to Talley’s home to plead his case for a future together. Playwright Lanford Wilson won the Pulitzer Prize in Drama for this beautiful play in 1980.
