Lee Hayden is an aging Western icon with a golden voice, but his best performances are decades behind him. He spends his days reliving old glories and smoking too much weed with his former-co-star-turned-dealer, Jeremy, until a surprise cancer diagnosis brings his priorities into sharp focus. He soon strikes up an exciting, contentious relationship with stand-up comic Charlotte, and he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Lucy, all while searching for one final role to cement his legacy.
Directed By: Brett Haley
Cast: Sam Elliott, Nick Offerman, Laura Prepon, Krysten Ritter, and Katharine Ross.
What the critics are saying:
Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune:
"Elliott does some of his finest work in one of the best movies in his career, a drama that feels like a biography."
Dan Webster, Spokesman-Review:
"Most of all, it benefits from the presence of Sam Elliott, still abiding after all these years."
Susan Granger, SSG Syndicate
"Compassionate, character-driven story, drenched with melancholy, as Sam Elliott delivers an understated, yet Oscar-caliber performance."
