Gutenberg! The Musical!

Directed by Shileah Corey

Produced by Ted Jaquith

Performance dates: May 18 & 19 at 8pm; May 20 at 2pm

The hilarious musical spoof Gutenberg! The Musical! is coming to EDP. Local theatre favorites Coulson Bingham and Ryan Floresca star as two aspiring playwrights performing a staged reading of their new passion project for potential producers: a big, splashy musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg. Gutenberg! The Musical!

In this side-splitting comedy, writers Bud Davenport (Ryan Floresca) and Doug Simon (Coulson Bingham) sing all the songs and play all of the parts in their crass historical epic, all with an unending supply of enthusiasm. The New York Times called the show, "a smashing success," while the New York Post enthused, "There are lots of genuine laughs in Gutenberg!" The show was nominated for a 2007 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical, as well as a 2007 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical.
