Peacock Alley Jazz

For this Valentine’s Day weekend, make plans to join us for an intimate evening of Jazz with the Peacock Alley Jazz Group as we continue our Roots Music Concert Series at the Creative Arts Guild. “A tasteful ambiance” easily describes the musical expressions of the Peacock Alley Jazz Group. Comprised of Paul Byrum on upright bass, Frank Giammarella on Piano, and Ken Hamilton on Percussion, each of the members of group are employed by the "mill companies" in Dalton, Georgia and thus a nod to our Peacock Alley heritage. The band’s name Peacock Alley refers to the name given to old US Hwy 41 between Dalton and Atlanta during the early 1900's when tufted cotton chenille bedspreads adorned with peacock designs would beckon travelers to stop and purchase them. This early cottage industry led to the birth of the carpet industry and thus Dalton Georgia became the "Carpet Capital of the World".
