Friday, March 16, 2018 7:00 pm

Continuing the Roots Music Concert Series at the Creative Arts Guild on Friday, March 16, 7:00 - 9:00 pm, the Guild will host a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration concert, featuring “Ceilidh". Ceilidh Celtic Ensemble, is an eclectic quintet that was formed in July 2004. The word Ceilidh (pronounced KAY-lee) is Gaelic, meaning a concert at which tales are told, songs are sung and music is played for dancing.

The leader of the group is Dr. Sam Baltzer, Professor of Music at Georgia Highlands College. Other members are his wife Janet, Matthew Fearing and Beth Blackburn of Dalton, and Creative Arts Guild Music Instructor Jim Burdick, from Rocky Face.

Ceilidh has performed many times at the Guild and at other locations in Dalton. The group also plays yearly in Rome at the Festival of the Arts, Across the Big Pond Concert, Robert Burns dinners, and St. Patrick’s Day parties. Ceilidh is also available for weddings, receptions, and worship services. They have received grants from both Grass Roots Arts and the Jonas Foundation to perform educational concerts at schools and other facilities in Floyd, Gordon and Whitfield counties.

The concert will be Friday, March 16th at 7:00pm in the Creative Arts Guild Jonas Performance Hall. Admission is $10.00. Senior Citizens and Students with ID $8. Children under 5 free. Feel free to bring your Irish snacks or dinner to enjoy during the concert! Beverages will be available.
