Vivaldi: The Red Priest, The Poet
PBO's 35th Anniversary Season Premiere!
Monica Huggett kicks off our 35th Anniversary season with an all-Vivaldi program, including concerti for one, two, and four violins. Showcasing Vivaldi's contribution to developing the violin as a solo instrument as well as his sublime writing for the human voice, this program is a tribute to one of Monica Huggett's mentors, Christopher Hogwood, an early music pioneer who was known for his carefully curated programs.
Czech soprano Hana Blažíková, who made her PBO debut in 2016’s Breathtaking: A Voice and Cornetto Intertwined, returns to Portland for a pair of Vivaldi motets, including Nulla in mundo pax sincera, RV 630, made famous in the 1996 film Shine.
