An Empire of Silver & Gold

November 16, 17, 18

Discover the baroque music of 18th-century Latin America.

Sponsored by Ronni Lacroute

Dr. Daniel Zuluaga guest directs this trailblazing program of works he discovered in archives of Latin American cathedrals – many of which will be presented as modern premieres. Five singers, two guitars, dulcian, violins, cello, cornetto, harp, and percussion blend familiar baroque textures with distinct Latin American sounds and harmonies. Zulaga (guitar, lute, theorbo) shares this fascinating music from the contested intersection of Spain and the New World.
