Strong Roots, Mighty Tree
SHAY MOORE OF DEEP ROOTS DANCE * 2hr, ALL
Sat Aug 11, 2:30-4:30p
This workshop for both experienced and beginning dancers digs into the foundations of American Tribal Style®, including exploring the historical context of the naming conventions, aesthetic choices, and branches of the beautiful tree that has grown from it. We will explore the nitty gritty details of the four basic movement families, then play with some Deep Roots Dance Dialect. Deep Roots Dance has its foundations in ATS® but comes with our own personal twist. It is perfect for experienced dancers who want to see how other troupes riff off the same inspirations, and is also great for beginners who are just learning the language of group dance. Please bring finger cymbals if you have them.
We’ll warm up with some basics, then get grounded in the foundations of American Tribal Style® with our Deep Roots twist.
- Difficulty: All levels welcome
- Please bring: finger cymbals, pad and pen, your favorite reusable water container. We will be playing cymbals so you may wish to bring ear plugs if your ears are sensitive.
