A celebration of the rich choral traditions of our region Choir Country is a celebration of Minnesota’s finest composers and the deep roots of excellent choral singing in our region. Minnesota has been blessed with a tradition of excellent choral performance AND choral composition. Building on the foundations laid by F Melius Christiansen, Dominick Argento, Stephen Paulus, Libby Larsen and many others, a richly talented and diverse body of contemporary Minnesota-based composers are creating beautiful new music for choir.

Choral Arts Ensemble will feature thirteen of these vibrant and eloquent voices, both in video clips of the composers talking about their craft, and in the moving artistry of their music itself. Familiar MPR music host Steve Staruch will help us by conducting these video interviews.

This is a Free Will concert – open and suitable for all ages! Come learn the composer’s creative process and experience how that is translated and delivered to the audience by a top-notch choir.
