Bethel A.M.E. Church — 5828 NE 8th Avenue, Portland

Our community comes together for this concert to amplify the voices of composers of color writing music that speaks to experiences of racial inequality in the United States.

In collaboration with Bethel A.M.E. Church, Resonance will be joined by members of the NE • PDX Ensemble, a new collective of gospel and spiritual singers from the region, and by the BRAVO Youth Orchestra.

Music will include the world premiere of a movement of bass-baritone and composer Damien Geter’s forthcoming Requiem, with texts by African-American men killed by police, and the West Coast premiere of Melissa Dunphy’s American Dreamers, with texts by five young Americans who came to the U.S. as undocumented children.
