Movie Night Series:

Come join the Alberta Abbey November 26th to kick off our brand new Movie Night Series with a screening of THE NEVERENDING STORY (1984)! We will be hosting two showings this evening, and our recently opened cafe, The Abbey Coffee Project, will be serving tasty treats and drinks for both, along with adult beverages for the second showing!

And in the spirit of the holiday season and THE NEVERENDING STORY, we will be hosting a book drive from November 26th through December 3rd, in partnership with our neighbors, The Children’s Book Bank. Children who bring a book to movie night will get a beverage free! Make sure to check out our crafts table too, where you can make your own unique wrapping paper for the holidays!

About the movie:

On his way to school, Bastian (Barret Oliver) ducks into a bookstore to avoid bullies. Sneaking away with a book called "The Neverending Story," Bastian begins reading it in the school attic. The novel is about Fantasia, a fantasy land threatened by "The Nothing," a darkness that destroys everything it touches. The kingdom needs the help of a human child to survive. When Bastian reads a description of himself in the book, he begins to wonder if Fantasia is real and needs him to survive.
