"The Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams is one of the greatest pieces of American theater ever written. At times shocking in its emotional vulnerability, the play centers around a family in St. Louis in the 1930's, facing the effects of an American culture wrecked by the Depression. Amanda Wingfield, portrayed by Anastasia Gabriel, is a controlling, unkind and manipulative woman, concerned with the outward appearance of her family, while internally everyone is falling apart. Daughter Laura, portrayed by Shayla Ortiz, is shy, neurotic, and a social outcast. She eventually meets Jim, portrayed by Zack Gross, in a last ditch attempt by her family to set her up with a man. Narrated by son Tom, portrayed by Kody Morrow, the entire play is simply staged, beautifully acted, and ultimately deals with the fractured state of the American family in the wake of the greatest economic tragedy our country has ever seen. Timeless, beautiful, and melancholy, this is one show you don't want to miss. Tickets are $5, so be sure to bring everyone you know to this incredible production."
