HORIZONS!…a Black History Month Event

One Performance Only, Saturday, February 8, 2020 - 4:00 PM

The Appleton Boychoir presents a powerful and moving musical tribute to freedom in this unique Black History Month concert. Featuring the music of South Africa, the Boys will perform works by Rudolf de Beer, Anders Nyberg, and John Williams. The concert documents the story of the San people of the Western Cape region who first welcomed the Dutch and English sailors to their shores. The musical journey begins with the arrival of these ships from over the horizon, and continues to La Amistad and the quest for freedom of the Mende…Dry Your Tears Afrika!

Join the Appleton Boychoir and the Makaroff Youth Ballet for this season-ending spectacular! Featuring songs from some of Hollywood’s blockbuster movies…Annie, Pinocchio, Sound of Music, and The Muppet Movie. The elegant Makaroff Youth Ballet dancers will perform a visual feast that will be sure to please. From Hollywood to Broadway, the Boys will present selections from Oliver and MARY POPPINS! Special guest artist Megan Kahts will join the Boys as she portrays Mary Poppins herself. A world-class soprano, Kahts brings to life this toe-tapping medley which will be simply…supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Don’t miss this extraordinary event to celebrate through music and movement the great moments of stage and screen.
