ACT Main Stage Performances

Across the Known Universe is a love story woven through with themes of the 60's, and features revolutionary music from The Beatles and other familiar groups of the era. ACT is thrilled to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four's momentous U.S. landing, and would like to invite you to be part of the celebration by joining us for a Raucous Singalong of Beatles' favorites at the end of each show. People, puppets, and timely topics are part of the story of a new college graduate (Princeton) struggling to define himself and determine what to do with his life. He meets an assortment of characters - Kate, the girl next door, Rod (a Republican), an internet "sexpert", "Lucy the Slut", and other colorful types who help him on his journey.

The popular Sondheim musical comes to the ACT stage and we explore the ups and downs of marriage as bachelor Robert looks on at the lives of his married friends - and is not particuarly encouraged by what he sees! He does think that "Someone is Waiting" but what he sees in the relationships of his friends certainly gives him pause.

The delightful tale of the orphan Annie, who finds herself suddenly removed from the less-than-kind care of the head of the orphanage, Mrs. Hannigan, and placed in the palatial mansion of Daddy Warbucks, where she finds herself inspiring captains of industry, heads of state, and the rest of us who can always find hope for "Tomorrow."

Can an evil nature be passed from generation to generation? School child Rhoda seems to be sent from heaven, but there appears an occasional dark side that pops up when things don't go her way. Rhoda's mother comes to the realization that some bad things that have happened may well be the responsibility of her daughter, and that she may have to take matters into her own hands. Tense and filled with surprising plot twists, "The Bad Seed" is a must see.

From popular local playwright Everett Newton (creator of "Taxidermania"), we enter the clever and rather crazy world of Dr. Dane Brewer and the "unique" members of his therapy group. The state board of medicine threatens to revoke Dr. Brewer's license, and the situation looks bleak for the members of the group who rely on him. A hilarious romp through the universe as seen by some truly--unique--characters! A wonderful and amusing story you're sure to enjoy.

Tickets for Thursday shows are $7.50 at the door. Call the box office to see if a half price performance is offered for the production in which you're interested.
