Spend a glorious morning of Alpine or Nordic skiing at pristine, unspoiled Ski Cooper. Expect no lift lines, long, wide groomed runs and no manmade snow. And, as an added bonus for those who prefer Nordic skiing or snowshoeing, just a few steps away from Cooper is the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center where beautiful groomed trails are open for all to enjoy. Following this idyllic outdoors endeavor a hot lunch will be served in the Lodge. Post lunch you’ll be sure to enjoy a showing of a video presentation of The Last Ridge. This excellent documentary about the Tenth Mountain Division shows how this WWII army regiment trained for high alpine warfare at both Ski Cooper and nearby Camp Hale. This intensive training took them to Italy where they fought major battles against the German Army in the Apennine Mountains and became true WWII heroes. What a perfect way to spend a winter day.

This past July, 8 Summit County friends traveled with local professional photographers, Linda & John Mirro, on a Scandinavian trip of a lifetime.  The trip encompassed 2,500 miles by bus, train, ship and plane from Norway to Finland, and north to destinations well above the Arctic Circle.  At this memorable Applause event, the Mirros will share a beautiful photographic presentation of the trip, making the entire experience come to life! Pre-presentation, our favorite chef, Sandy Kuschnerus, will tempt all guests with an aquavit toast and a scrumptious Scandinavian smorgasbord including luscious desserts. Be sure not to miss this event!

French Gulch is a living example of everything connected to a gold rush happening. It has what was once a roaring mining camp - Lincoln City. French Pass saw thousands of eager prospectors cross into Summit County beginning in 1859. And the area has examples of every type of mining done in the area during the latter half of the 19th century. Our hike will show you much of this history combined with Rick Hague’s explanation of how it all fit together. Join us for an entertaining snowshoe hike and presentation, followed by a warming lunch at the home of Carole Weller.

Join us for a fun evening at the Backstage Theater. This 1960’s French farce adapted for the English-speaking stage features self-styled Parisian lothario Bernard, who has Italian, German, and American fiancées, each a beautiful airline hostess with frequent “layovers.” He keeps “one up, one down and one pending” until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to Paris, and Bernard’s apartment, at the same time. Heavy apps and a drink will be provided; this is a great opportunity to support two of our local non profits at the same time! Price includes ticket to the show.
Hosts: Sally Lewis and Jean Lawson
